John Alexander (Alex) Durr holds interests in and experiences with multiple facets of music.  These include instrumental performance, sound recording/engineering and design, composition and arranging, and education.

He has had opportunities to both perform and teach at the NYSSMA Winter Convention in Rochester, New York and at the NYSBDA Spring Convention in Syracuse, New York (co-taught a clinic on creating chamber ensemble experience for students).

Alex played three seasons with the Penfield Symphony Orchestra (2015 - 2018), but switched his performance focus to rock and roll drumming. He plays drums with Rochester, NY original indie rock group The Stedwells. He also performs with local professional pit orchestras and jazz combos.

Local composers and performers have hired Alex for tracking and mixing recording sessions. Rochester based alternative culture magazine, Floated also uses Alex's sound work services for their signature live sessions and artist services.

Alex has also developed a professional relationship with Kendor Music, Inc. through whom he has percussion solo and ensemble compositions published.
